This Shipping Policy explains how and when orders are shipped from Moon Auto Parts. It should be read together with our Limited Parts Warranty, Refund Policy, Return & Cancellation Policy, and Terms & Conditions.
1. Shipping Areas
- - We currently ship within the contiguous United States (lower 48 states).
- - For shipments outside this area (e.g., Alaska, Hawaii, or special destinations), please contact us before placing an order to confirm availability and any additional charges.
2. Free Commercial Shipping & Residential / Liftgate Fees
2.1 Free Shipping to Commercial Addresses
- - Standard freight shipping to commercial addresses with a loading dock or forklift is free within the contiguous United States, unless otherwise stated.
- - “Commercial address” means a business location suitable for receiving freight deliveries during normal business hours with proper unloading equipment.
2.2 Residential & Liftgate Deliveries – $199
- - Deliveries to residential addresses or locations that require a liftgate service incur an additional $199 fee per shipment.
- - This fee covers the extra carrier handling and equipment needed to safely unload the engine or transmission at a non-commercial location.
3. Order Processing Time (Handling Time)
Because we specialize in used engines and transmissions, each order requires time to:
- - Locate and confirm the correct part in the yard,
- - Safely remove the part from the donor vehicle,
- - Inspect the part for visible damage, and
- - Prepare, secure, and palletize the part for freight shipping.
For these reasons:
- - Order processing time is typically 3–5 business days from the date your order is confirmed and paid.
- - “Business days” means Monday through Friday, excluding holidays.
4. Transit Time (After Dispatch)
Once your order has been processed, inspected, and palletized, it is handed over to a freight carrier.
- - Typical transit time is 2–5 business days after dispatch, depending on your location, carrier routing, and scheduling.
- - You will generally receive tracking or PRO information to follow your shipment’s progress.
Transit times are estimates only and are not guaranteed. We are not responsible for delays caused by freight carriers, weather, holidays, or any circumstances beyond our reasonable control.
5. Total Estimated Delivery Window
Combining processing and transit times:
- - Most orders are delivered within approximately 5–10 business days from the date of order.
This is an estimated window, not a guarantee. Some orders may arrive sooner, and some may take longer due to carrier or logistical factors.
6. Scheduling Delivery & Receiving Freight
Engines and transmissions ship via LTL (less-than-truckload) freight:
- - The freight carrier may contact you to schedule a delivery window.
- - For commercial deliveries, ensure someone is available during business hours to receive and sign for the shipment and that proper unloading equipment is available.
- - For residential or liftgate deliveries, someone must be present to receive and sign for the shipment.
If a delivery is missed or redelivered, carriers may charge additional fees, which are the responsibility of the customer unless we explicitly agree otherwise in writing.
7. Inspection & Shipping Damage
When your shipment arrives:
- 1. Inspect the pallet and packaging before signing the delivery receipt.
- 2. If you see any visible damage:
- - Note the damage clearly on the delivery receipt,
- - Take photos of the pallet, packaging, and part, and
- - Contact us as soon as possible.
All shipping damage must be reported within 48 hours of delivery to both Moon Auto Parts and the freight carrier.
8. Risk of Loss
- - Risk of loss passes to you when the shipment is delivered to the carrier, except where otherwise required by law.
- - It is your responsibility to provide a correct and complete shipping address, ensure someone is available to receive the freight, and notify us promptly of any issues.
9. Shipping Costs, Fees & Refunds
- - Free shipping applies only to qualifying commercial deliveries as described above.
- - The $199 residential/liftgate fee is applied where applicable and is not refundable, except where required by law or where we expressly agree in writing (for example, in confirmed wrong-part cases).
Other shipping charges (if any) are handled in accordance with our Refund Policy and Return & Cancellation Policy.
