Moon Auto Parts – Warranty

This Limited Parts Warranty (“Warranty”) is offered by Moon Auto Parts (“Moon Auto Parts”, “we”, “us”, “our”) to the original purchaser (“Customer”, “Purchaser”, “you”) of a used engine or transmission from moonautoparts.com.

By purchasing, installing, or using any part from Moon Auto Parts, you agree that this Warranty and our Limited Parts Warranty, Refund Policy, Return & Cancellation Policy, Terms & Conditions, and Privacy Policy form part of your sales contract.

1. General Warranty Statement

- This is a limited parts-only warranty.

- We do not cover:

• - Labor or installation/removal costs
• - Diagnostics
• - Towing, rental cars, lodging, storage fees
• - Loss of income or other consequential damages

- This Warranty applies only to the original purchaser named on the invoice and is not transferable to any other person or vehicle.

- Any warranty claim will be handled only with the original purchaser.

- You must contact us before removing, disassembling, or repairing any component that might be related to a potential warranty claim.

- We require original installation and maintenance receipts from an ASE-certified mechanic at a licensed repair facility for all warranty claims.

2. Warranty Duration & Scope

We back our used engines and transmissions with a:

4-year or 40,000 miles limited parts-only warranty (whichever comes first).

This Warranty is valid only if all installation, registration, and maintenance requirements in this document are met.

3. Engine Coverage

This section applies to eligible gasoline and diesel engines sold by Moon Auto Parts.

3.1 Coverage Period

Coverage lasts whichever occurs first of:

• - 48 months (4 years) from the purchase date on your invoice, or
• - 40,000 miles from the odometer reading at the time of engine installation/registration.

3.2 Covered Internal Components

The Warranty covers internal lubricated engine components only, including:

• - Pistons and piston pins
• - Crankshaft and main bearings
• - Connecting rods and rod bearings
• - Camshaft(s) and camshaft bearings
• - Intake and exhaust valves and valve springs
• - Push rods, rocker arms, rocker shafts, and hydraulic lifters
• - Oil pump

Cylinder block and cylinder heads are covered only if damaged by a covered internal lubricated component listed above.

Seals and gaskets are covered only when replaced as part of a repair to a covered internal component.

Leaking seals and gaskets by themselves are not considered a covered failure under this Warranty.

External accessories (alternator, starter, fuel system, sensors, manifolds, etc.) are not covered—see Section 9 (Exclusions).

4. Transmission Coverage

This section applies to eligible automatic and manual transmissions sold by Moon Auto Parts.

4.1 Coverage Period

Coverage lasts whichever occurs first of:

• - 48 months (4 years) from the purchase date on your invoice, or
• - 40,000 miles from the odometer reading at the time of transmission installation/registration.

4.2 Covered Internal Transmission Components

The Warranty covers internal transmission components only, including:

• - Torque converter
• - Oil pump
• - Governor
• - Drums and planetaries
• - Sun gear and shell
• - Sprags
• - Shafts and bearings
• - Shift rails and forks
• - Synchronizers

Seals and gaskets are not covered except when they must be replaced as part of a repair for a covered internal failure.

External switches, sensors, wiring, computer modules, mounts, and any add-on accessories are not covered.

5. Important Disclaimers: Mileage, Appearance & Used Parts

- All engines and transmissions are sourced from used/salvage vehicles.

- Any mileage listed or discussed is an estimate only and is not guaranteed.

- Odometer readings of the donor vehicle do not legally or practically guarantee the mileage of the removed engine or transmission.

- Any mileage is provided as “correct to the best of our knowledge” but is not warranted.

- The appearance of used engines and transmissions (rust, dirt, corrosion, cosmetic imperfections) is not warranted.

- Cosmetic or visual differences do not constitute a defect and are not grounds for refund, return, or warranty claim.

- Moon Auto Parts sells used engines and transmissions, not complete vehicles. Odometer laws that apply to complete vehicles do not apply to engines/transmissions sold separately.

6. Customer Responsibilities & Installation Requirements

To activate and maintain this Warranty, you must meet all requirements below.

6.1 Installation Timeframe

- The engine or transmission must be installed and the Warranty activated within 10 business days of delivery.

6.2 Installer Qualification

- Installation must be performed by an ASE-certified mechanic at a licensed automotive repair facility.

- DIY (do-it-yourself) installations, installations by unlicensed shops, or by non-ASE mechanics void the Warranty.

6.3 Warranty Activation (Registration)

Within 10 business days of delivery, email support@moonautoparts.com with:

• - Invoice number
• - Vehicle VIN
• - Clear photo of the odometer at time of installation
• - Shop name, address, and contact information
• - Mechanic’s ASE certification details

Failure to register and provide this information within 10 business days will void all Warranty coverage.

6.4 Required Parts Replacement at Engine Installation

For engines, the installing mechanic must:

• - Install a new thermostat
• - Install a new timing belt (if applicable) or verify timing chain system per OEM guidance
• - Replace critical seals and gaskets, including rear main seal
• - Replace all fluids according to manufacturer specifications
• - Fully inspect, flush, and verify the cooling system is in proper working order

Failure to perform these steps voids the Warranty.

6.5 Required Parts Replacement at Transmission Installation

For transmissions, the installing mechanic must:

• - Replace front and rear seals and axle seals (as applicable)
• - Install a new transmission filter kit (if applicable)
• - Flush and inspect transmission cooler and cooler lines
• - Replace or clean the cooler as required
• - Fill all fluids to manufacturer specifications

Failure to flush cooler/lines or to follow manufacturer fluid requirements voids the Warranty.

7. Maintenance Requirements

To keep this Warranty valid, you must:

• - Perform an initial oil and filter change at 1,000 miles after installation, then follow the vehicle manufacturer’s recommended maintenance schedule.
• - Perform all oil changes, fluid services, and required maintenance at a commercial service facility (no DIY maintenance).
• - Maintain proper engine oil, coolant, and transmission fluid levels at all times.
• - Ensure oil pressure and temperature gauges/lights, and speedometer/odometer are functional.
• - Keep printed, dated, itemized receipts that show:
  • - Vehicle VIN
  • - Date & mileage
  • - Services performed
  • - Shop name, address, and contact
  • - Proof of payment

Handwritten notes or self-kept logs are not acceptable.

Failure to provide valid service records upon claim will void the Warranty.

8. Conditions That Void the Warranty

This Warranty is void if any of the following occur:

• - Improper installation or installation by a non-ASE or unlicensed mechanic.
• - Engine or transmission used for racing, competition, or abuse.
• - Overheating, running low or dry on oil, or any operation without proper lubrication or cooling (including melted or missing heat tabs).
• - Failure to install and activate the Warranty within 10 business days of delivery.
• - Failure to perform the required installation steps (thermostat, timing belt, seals, cooling system, cooler flush, etc.).
• - Failure to maintain proper fluid levels or ignoring warning lights/gauges.
• - Continued operation of the vehicle after a serious issue is detected.
• - Disassembly of the engine or transmission without prior written authorization from Moon Auto Parts.
• - Lack of valid installation and maintenance receipts from a qualified shop.
• - Tampering with or removal of heat tabs.
• - Use of the engine or transmission in a different application (custom swap, non-OEM vehicle, etc.) without written approval from Moon Auto Parts.

9. Exclusions – What Is Not Covered

This Warranty does not cover, including but not limited to:

• - Labor, installation, or removal costs
• - Diagnostics or troubleshooting costs
• - Towing, rental cars, lodging, loss of income, storage fees, or any incidental or consequential damages

External accessories and bolt-on parts, including:

• - Alternator, starter, A/C compressor
• - Power steering pump
• - Turbo or supercharger units
• - Wiring harnesses and sensors
• - Intake and exhaust manifolds
• - Fuel injection systems, carburetors, ignition components
• - Belts, hoses, filters, and fluids

Other exclusions:

• - Leaking seals and gaskets not associated with a covered internal failure
• - Wear items and components requiring regular replacement under normal maintenance
• - Failures caused by abuse, negligence, misuse, freezing, overheating, lack of lubrication, contaminated or improper fluids, improper towing or off-road racing
• - Engines or transmissions used commercially where commercial use is not declared and appropriate surcharges not paid
• - Any component not specifically listed as covered in this Warranty
• - Any pre-existing issues or failures that occurred before the Warranty was activated

10. Warranty Claim Procedure

If you suspect a Warranty-covered failure:

1. 1. Stop driving the vehicle immediately.
2. 2. Within 5 business days of the failure, email support@moonautoparts.com with:
   • - Invoice number
   • - Detailed description of the issue
   • - Photos and/or videos showing the suspected failure
   • - Current odometer reading
3. 3. Provide documentation from an ASE-certified mechanic:
   • - Detailed written diagnosis and work order
   • - Photos of defective internal parts (if visible)
   • - Copy of the mechanic’s ASE certification and shop information
4. 4. Provide all required receipts and records:
   • - Original installation invoice
   • - Receipts for thermostat, timing belt (if applicable), seals/gaskets, fluids, etc.
   • - Oil change and maintenance records
   • - Diagnostic or scan report from a qualified facility

Moon Auto Parts will review the claim and, at our sole discretion, may:

• - Provide a replacement engine/transmission of like kind and quality, or
• - Refund the purchase price or wholesale replacement value of the covered part.

If a replacement is approved, the defective unit must be returned complete and assembled, in the same configuration as delivered. Unless we state otherwise in writing, you are responsible for return shipping costs.

11. Limitation of Liability

Moon Auto Parts’ liability under this Warranty is strictly limited to:

• - Providing a replacement part of like kind and quality, or
• - Refunding the purchase price or wholesale replacement value of the covered part, at our discretion.

We do not assume any liability for:

• - Labor or installation/removal costs
• - Loss of vehicle use
• - Loss of income or profits
• - Rental vehicles, towing, or storage fees
• - Damage to other parts, systems, or property
• - Any incidental, consequential, or indirect damages

Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion or limitation of incidental or consequential damages. In such cases, some of the above limitations may not apply, but our liability will still be limited to the maximum extent permitted by law.

12. Governing Law & Jurisdiction

This Warranty and any dispute arising from it are governed by the laws of the State of Kansas.

Any litigation or claim relating to this Warranty or any product sold by Moon Auto Parts must be filed and resolved exclusively in the appropriate state or federal court located in Saline County, Kansas.

By purchasing from Moon Auto Parts, you consent to the exclusive jurisdiction and venue of these courts.

13. Acknowledgment & Acceptance

By purchasing and/or installing a part from Moon Auto Parts, you:

• - Acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agreed to this Limited Parts Warranty.
• - Understand that this is a parts-only Warranty with strict installation, registration, and maintenance requirements.
• - Accept that no employee, agent, or representative of Moon Auto Parts may waive or modify these terms unless such modifications are in writing and signed by an authorized officer of Moon Auto Parts.
