The history of engine development at Nissan goes all the way back to the early days of Datsun, Nissan's predecessor. You can see it in its water-cooled inline-4 Type 7, which first appeared back in the 1930s and continued to evolve over the next couple of decades. Another interesting Nissan new engine is the Nissan MR20DE, a 2.0 L with 1,997 cc inline-4 DOHC gasoline engine co-developed with Renault, featuring variable valve timing and multi-point fuel injection; it fits models like the Nissan Qashqai, Sentra, Teana, Serena, Bluebird Sylphy, and NV200.
The QR25DE, on the other hand, is definitely worth a mention. It's a 2.5-litre, 2488 cc straight-4 petrol engine with DOHC that was used across quite a few Nissan vehicles, including the X-Trail, Altima, Rogue, and Teana. The Renault-Nissan V9X 3.0 L Nissan V6 diesel engine, developed by the Renault-Nissan Alliance, is fitted to both Renault vehicles, like the Laguna III and Latitude, and Nissan/Infiniti models, such as the Pathfinder, Navara, Infiniti FX30d, EX30d, QX70, D, and Infiniti M30d.
Nissan mainly employs Jatco transmissions and have variety of models in automatic and manual Jatco transmissions. Within the Renault-Nissan Alliance, manual transmissions like the Renault JH160 and JR200 were shared between Nissan (e.g., Micra, Tiida, Note) and Renault models (e.g., Clio, Almera, Megane), showing cross-brand transmission component commonality.
